Can i transfer my phone service to another another phone and does it cost a fee?

The phone I currently have (EnV2 verizon) is broken from over use so i got a fairly new one from a friend (EnV3) and i was wondering if it was possible to transfer my service from that phone to the new one, and if it cost a fee.
