Is the M4 Carbine Inferior Compared to Other Weapons?

To anyone who sered in the military and used other weapons, do you think the M4 is inferior compared to future replacements for the carbine like the HK416, ACR, SCAR, XCR, etc? Because I heard of the numerous problems in real-life including reliability, jamming issues, overheating, and clogging up with sand and dust alot. I also heard that water inside it will cause it to explode. The m4 to me looks like a cool, reliable weapon that is pretty accurate but after reading information about the 5.56 round and that it doesn't always kill the target, I'm pretty sure most of the rumors about the M4 being inferior compared to other weapons is right. Hell, I even heard Delta Force and other spec ops units are using the HK416, SCAR and other weapons because they are more reliable. What do any of you think?
